SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College baseball team begins its season on Saturday, March 1 on the road at McDaniel College for a doubleheader in Maryland.

2024 REWIND
Skidmore has a sour taste left in its mouth from last year's crossover series at Rochester. After claiming the second game to force a deciding game three, Skidmore fell after a three-run come-from-behind rally by the Yellowjackets in the bottom of the ninth ended the Thoroughbred season abruptly. Skidmore went 19-17 overall in 2024 with a 9-8 Liberty League record. The season featured a five-game winning streak and a stretch of 6-of-7 Thoroughbred victories.

The 2025 Thoroughbred team has nine position players returning who started at least 10 games last year. Skidmore also returns nearly 60 percent of its innings pitched from 2024. The veteran Skidmore team is out to reclaim the East Division for the third time in four years.

THE SCHEDULE AHEAD
After McDaniel, Skidmore will play its next eight games at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida March 9-15. Them, it is right into Liberty League play with a series against Vassar March 21-22. A week later, the Thoroughbreds have three, including two at home, against Bard March 28-29.

Other conference home games include RPI (April 4), Ithaca (April 12), Hobart (April 13), and Union (April 19). The Liberty League Crossover Series is May 3-4 and the conference tournament is scheduled for May 8-10.

STAR RETURNERS
Skidmore has back All-Liberty League players in
Zachary Leiderman,
Trey Bourque, and
Owen Roy. Leiderman led the team as a junior a year ago with a .388 batting average.
Sam Kornet hit six homers last year, while Bourque had five and a team-high 36 RBI. Roy's impressive rookie campaign saw the outfielder hit .357 with a .488 on-base percentage and nine stolen bases. There are 24 returners from last year's roster.

Skidmore welcomes nine newcomers to the team, including eight first-years as well as 2024 Liberty League Rookie of the Year
Jack Collins as a transfer from Union.

PROGRAM HISTORY
Skidmore has five Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association/Liberty League Championships, most recently in 2012. Head coach
Ron Plourde, now in his 27
th season at the helm of the program, enters the season with 462 career victories.
