Seahawks halt Thoroughbred streak

Box Score MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – The Skidmore College men's hockey team had its four-game winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 4-3 loss on the road at Save Regina University.
  • The Seahawks are 12-9-3 and 10-9 (32 points) in the New England Hockey Conference.
  • Skidmore falls to 11-10 and 9-8 still with 27 points. The Thoroughbreds are a point ahead of New England College in fifth with three to play.
  • Sunday is Salve's last league game. The Seahawks are dormant next weekend.
  • After the Thoroughbreds scored twice within a 1:26 span in the early portion of the first period, the hosts worked their way back to even by the end of the period including a tally with less than 45 seconds remaining in the period.
  • Salve then got the only tally of the middle period to grab a 3-2 lead.
  • Skidmore tied it just shy of the midway point of the third before Matthew Brunton played hero by scoring the winner with 4:58 left.
  • Ryan Waltman, Jaden York, and Ethan Heiderpriem scored the Skidmore goals.
  • Kaeden Patrick assisted on two out of the three Skidmore markers.
  • Joshua Seeley made 28 saves in the contest. His counterpart, Selby Warren, turned aside 30 shots as Skidmore finished with a slight 32-31 edge in shots.
  • Skidmore was 0-for-2 on the power play.
  • Salve scored its second goal with the man advantage. It was the only Seahawk power play.
