SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team dropped its home opener to top-five ranked Bowdoin, 68-46, on Saturday afternoon at the Williamson Sports Center. The Thoroughbreds outscored the Polar Bears 28-27 in the second half.
- Bowdoin, ranked third nationally by WBCA and fifth by D3hoops.com, controlled the boards by a 50-17 margin and held a 19-0 advantage in second-chance points.
- Skidmore (1-2) forced 24 Bowdoin turnovers, leading to a 19-14 edge in points off turnovers.
- Madison Meyer led Skidmore with 10 points, three steals, and an assist.
- Sara Hastie added eight points and two steals, while Ruby Krop finished with seven points and a game-high three blocks.
- Meghan Drury contributed six points, two assists, and three steals off the bench.
- Abbie Quinn paced Bowdoin with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting, adding six offensive rebounds and two assists.
- Payton Collins scored 10 points off the bench and grabbed five rebounds.
- Bowdoin jumped to an early 10-5 lead and carried a 10-point advantage into the end of the first quarter. The visitors continued to surge in the second, shooting over 47 percent while limiting Skidmore to six points to build a 41-18 halftime lead.
- The Polar Bears pushed the margin to 29 in the fourth quarter, but Skidmore responded by tightening defensively and preventing Bowdoin from earning its third straight 30-point victory to open the season.
- Skidmore closed strong in the fourth with a 10-point run fueled by a pair of Rachel Carpenter three-pointers.
