MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team outscored host Middlebury 35-24 in the second half, but an early deficit proved too much to overcome in a 62-49 setback on Tuesday evening.
- Middlebury (5-2) limited Skidmore to just 14 points in the opening half, building a commanding 38-14 lead at the break.
- The Thoroughbreds responded with a strong 21-point third quarter, trimming the margin back into the teens after the Panthers led by as many as 26 in the frame.
- Skidmore (1-3) continued to chip away in the fourth, getting as close as 12 before a late Middlebury free throw sealed the final 13-point differential.
- Senior Madison Meyer paced the Thoroughbreds with 16 points, adding three rebounds and two steals.
- Sophia Martinez contributed nine points and three steals, while Sara Hastie and Rachel Carpenter chipped in eight apiece.
- Hastie pulled down five boards with two steals, and Carpenter knocked down two of Skidmore's four 3-pointers on the night.
- Islay Moore led Middlebury with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Gabby Stuart posted 10 points, five rebounds, and two steals.
- Both teams finished with 19 turnovers, though Middlebury held a narrow 22-20 advantage in points off miscues.
- The Panthers also owned a 34-24 edge in points in the paint and received a 29-15 boost from their bench.
