Skidmore drops first SUNYAC game at No. 1. Hobart

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's hockey team lost 6-1 on Friday night in the program's first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game on the road at top-ranked Hobart.
  • The Statesmen (5-0) scored five unanswered, including two in the final 3:12 of the third period, after Skidmore tied it at one in the first.
  • Kahlil Fontana scored four times for Hobart, including the first goal of the game at 11:19.
  • Theo Angelopoulos tied it at the 14:06 mark from Tyler Fogu, but the Statesmen took the lead right back 40 seconds later on a Heikki Virtanen tally.
  • Fontana's second at the 15:22 mark of the middle period made it 3-1, and he scored his third and fourth both on the power play in period three.
  • Easton Ryan completed the scoring with 2:26 left.
  • Bauer Morrissey and Conor Lally both assisted three times for Hobart.
  • The hosts finished with a 48-18 advantage in shots.
  • Kyle Ozgun turned aside 42 saves in his collegiate debut for Skidmore (1-2).
  • For Hobart, Mavrick Goyer made 17 saves.
  • Hobart finished 2-for-4 on the power play, while the Thoroughbreds were 0-for-2.
