POTSDAM, NY – The Skidmore College men's soccer team officially clinched a spot in the 2025 Liberty League Postseason following a 3-0 shutout road victory over Clarkson on Tuesday evening.

Connor Mansfield, before pulling away from the Golden Knights (6-4-3, 3-3-1 Liberty League) in the second half following goals from senior
Tobias Catizone and freshman
Ethan Benjamin. Anchored by senior
Will Devall defensively, Skidmore conceded zero shots on goal en route to securing the program's seventh shutout of the season and sixth in the past seven games.
With the victory, the Thoroughbreds is now guaranteed a spot in next month's conference tournament and can finish no lower than the fourth seed.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Skidmore took the lead in the 29th minute on a lofted long ball downfield from Dougherty that connected perfectly with Manfield, who needed just one move around an aggressive Clarkson goalkeeper that had overcommitted off his line, leaving the net wide open.
- Entering halftime, the Thoroughbreds defense held Clarkson to just a lone shot that flew off target, while generating five shots with two corners on the other side of the field.
- The Thoroughbreds doubled the lead in the 74th when Catizone sliced through the Golden Knights' backline in transition before firing a rocket past the diving Clarkson goalie and into the top-right corner of the net.
- In the 79th minute, Skidmore broke the game open when Benjamin headed in the third score of the game off a free kick into the box from fellow freshman Farhad Sharifai.
STANDOUT THOROUGHBREDS
- Mansfield's goal is his third on the season and seventh as a Thoroughbred.
- Catizone's score gives him six on the season and 12 in his career.
- Benjamin's goal is the first of his career.
- Dougherty's assist is his second this season.
- Devall recorded his sixth win and third shutout on the season.
