SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College field hockey team was shut out, 6-0, at home on Saturday afternoon against Vassar.
- Skidmore is 7-7 overall on the year and 2-2 in the Liberty League.
- Vassar is 8-4 and 3-0 as the Liberty League's only undefeated team remaining.
- The Brewers scored twice each in the first and fourth quarters sandwiched by single tallies in the second and third for the 6-0 final.
- Julia Morris scored twice for the Brewers. Four other players found the back of the cage.
- The visitors quickly made it 2-0 with an Autumn Dowiak goal at 3:31 and one from Sofia Beseth just under two minutes later.
- Morris scored her first in the middle of the second quarter and then struck again with 2:23 left in the third stanza to make it 4-0.
- Zoe Robinson scored Vassar's fifth tally, and Sydney Yu completed the scoring with 7:31 remaining.
- Allison Morgan made four saves for Skidmore in 25:13. Nicole Sylvestri (24:02) and Lily Mae Dreyfuss (10:45) also saw time in goal for the Thoroughbreds.
- Auriel Gonzalez was credited with a first-quarter defensive save.
- Skidmore had 10 shots on the afternoon. Gianna DiGioacchino and Margaret Heim both had three.
- Vassar finished with a 22-10 edge in shots (11-4 SOG) with a small edge (10-8) in penalty corners.
- Grace Wiley and Ellie Rosen combined for the shutout for the Brewers. Â
