Bombers dominate third quarter to beat Skidmore, 65-55

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Skidmore College women's basketball team came up short against Liberty League rival Ithaca College on Saturday, losing 65-55 at the Williamson Sports Center in front of a Stable Game crowd just under 400.
  • Despite a strong first-half performance, Skidmore (7-10, 5-5 Liberty League) struggled to maintain momentum in the third quarter, where they were outscored 16-6.
  • Junior Madison Meyer posted a game-high 19 points, shooting an efficient 7-for-13 from the field, while sophomore Claudia Schneider scored 16 points with seven rebounds.
  • Schneider also had two blocks and a steal, while Meyer finished with five assists and two steals.
  • Both teams were near 30 percent in the first quarter as Skidmore opened the game with a tight 16-14 lead.
  • Skidmore then made 7-of-11 from the floor in the second but was still outscored 18-17 in the period. The Thoroughbreds led by a point at half.
  • Ithaca (9-7, 8-1 Liberty League) capitalized on turnovers in the second half, outscoring Skidmore 33-22 in the final two quarters. The Bombers have won six in a row.
  • The Bombers spread it around with three players in double figures and three others with nine. Anya Watkins scored 10 of her team-high 12 points from the free-throw line, where the team made 19-of-22 (86.4 percent). Tori Drevna dropped 11, and Emma Waite scored 10.
  • Most team stats were close besides Ithaca's 25-12 edge in bench points.
  • The contests featured eight ties and six lead changes.
  • The game was tied, 49-49, excluding the third quarter. The other three quarters were each separated by two points or fewer.
  • The win for Ithaca broke a streak of five consecutive Skidmore wins in the series dating back to the 2023 conference title game.
