SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Sophomore
Hannah Fetzer struck gold in the 80th minute with a solo game winner to give the still-unbeaten Skidmore College women's soccer team a thrilling 2-1 home opener over Clarkson on Wednesday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds (6-0-1) kicked off Liberty League play on the right foot by first striking in the early minutes of the match before overcoming a second half Golden Knight (3-4-1) equalizer with the emphatic game winner. Both teams finished with six shots on goal, with Clarkson holding a 5-0 corner kicks edge.
HOW IT HAPPENED

- In the 66th minute, the Golden Knights evened things up on an excellent header from Brooke Butler on a corner kick from Julia Tylar.
- With eyes focused on avoiding a tie, the Thoroughbreds offense kept up their pace and eventually resulted in an 80th minute attack in transition from the right side by Fetzer, who launched a sensational crossing shot attempt that sailed past the reach of the Clarkson goalie's reach and into the back left corner of the net.
