Three-goal spurt in first half leads Skidmore to first win at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Skidmore College men's soccer team popped three goals in eight minutes in the first half on the way to a 3-0 victory on the road at Springfield College on Saturday.
  • The win is the first for the Thoroughbreds in 2024 and represents the first victory at Skidmore for head coach Brad Campion. The Thoroughbreds are 1-1-2 on the young season.
  • Skidmore conceded the first shot in the seventh minute. It went wide. After that, the Thoroughbreds dominated. Skidmore took the next four shots and had three corner kicks before Colin Goodhines scored his third goal at the 27:23 mark to break the ice.
  • Just 49 seconds later, Connor Mansfield scored to make it 2-0. Dillon Nelson assisted.
  • Then, just over seven minutes later, Tobias Catizone took a feed from Goodhines and scored for his first of the campaign.
  • The seventh-minute shot for Springfield was its only attempt of the half. After 90, total shots were 18-10 Skidmore. Skidmore led in shots on goal 6-4.
  • Each of Will Devall's four saves were in the second half. Two of them came within a minute of each other in the 71st minute. It was the junior keeper's first shutout of the season and third of his career.
  • Erving Henderson, off the bench, had four shots and three out of the team's four shots on goal for Springfield (1-3-1). Tommy Fenton had three saves for the Pride.
  • Corner kicks finished 10-3 Skidmore.
UP NEXT
The Thoroughbreds have two last non-league games next week. Skidmore hosts Ramapo on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before going to Oneonta next Saturday.
