BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Following a combination of stellar defensive plays and unlucky shots off the crossbar/post, the Skidmore College women's soccer team battled SUNY Brockport to a 90 minute stalemate, securing the scoreless tie to conclude the weekend road trip on Saturday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds (1-0-1) outshot the Golden Eagles (1-0-1) 13-to-10 and held a 5-to-4 shot on goal edge. Brockport had the advantage in corner kicks, attempting six to Skidmore's three in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Skidmore had a golden scoring opportunity almost convert in the 32nd minute of the first half on a Chloe Binder shot that hit right off the post.
- In the 62nd minute, the Golden Eagles had a pair of scoring opportunities off a corner kick in the form of consecutive headers, the first of which hit the crossbar before Skidmore goalie Avery Rogers recovered to save the second header off the rebound.
- Rogers also made crucial saves in the ninth, 17th and 82nd minutes of the match to keep the Golden Eagles off the board.
- Brockport nearly pulled off the miracle game winner in the final seconds of the game on a cross that snuck past three Thoroughbreds to find a Golden Eagles player directly in front of the net, but the shot sailed wide right.

- Senior Ella Stone finished with two of her three shots being on goal
