Skidmore falls to RPI, 12-10, in Liberty League First Round

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's team completed its season with a first-round loss to visiting Rensselaer on Tuesday afternoon. The fourth-seeded Engineers beat the fifth-seeded Thoroughbreds, 12-10.
  • RPI advances to the semifinals and will play top-seeded Ithaca on Friday.
  • Skidmore wraps its season at 9-9.
  • The game was tied six all at the half. RPI scored the first goal of the second half, but Skidmore answered with a pair to take a one-goal lead. The Engineers closed the period scoring three unanswered goals.
  • Skidmore scored in its first possession of the fourth to cut the deficit to one. RPI responded, getting the next two, to take a three-goal lead near the midway point of the fourth.
  • The Thoroughbreds scored their 10th goal with 5:48 remaining to make it a two-goal game.
  • Skidmore was unable to draw closer in its final three possessions. RPI goalie Jenny Canfield made two out of her 10 saves during that stretch.
  • Jillian Lockwood led Skidmore with five points on three goals and two assists.
  • Maeve McKinley had a goal and pair of helpers.
  • Maddy Marr, Lily Schwartzman, and Lily Hudner each scored twice.
  • Ella Harris finished with seven draw controls.

  • Megan Shay scored five goals and added an assist to lead RPI.
  • Ella Graff scored three goals, and Audrey Silverman tallied two goals and two assists.
