Thoroughbreds fall to #19 Amherst in home dual opener

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat to nationally 19th-ranked Amherst College Saturday afternoon.
 
  • Skidmore picked up a win at second doubles and was competitive in most matches.
  • Nika Mori and Fletcher King posted an 8-7 victory over Spencer Leung Sujit Chepuri.
  • Amherst took a 2-1 lead into singles with a narrow 8-6 win at third doubles for Edred Opie and Rex Harrison over Griffin Biernat and Louis Bourn.
  • Amherst swept the six singles matches, but two of them went to a third set and two others nearly went the distance.
  • Yuval Goodman won the opening set in a tight loss (6-7, 6-2, 6-3) at first singles against Andreas Sillaste.
  • At third singles, Mori forced the third set before running out of steam against Kobe Ellenbogen (6-3, 6-7, 6-1).
NEXT UP: Skidmore will travel to nationally second-ranked Middlebury on Sunday for a 2:30 p.m. match.
