KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Skidmore College softball team scored 12 runs in two games but it was not enough as the Thoroughbreds lost to Lake Forest College and the University of New England by identical scores of 14-6 on Thursday as part of THE Spring Games. The Thoroughbreds fall to 2-6 with two games to play before returning to Saratoga Springs.

Lake Forest 14, Skidmore 6
- Lake Forest scored five runs on two hits in the first inning and plated four more on four hits in the second to take a 9-0 lead after an inning-and-a-half.
- The Thoroughbreds loaded the bases with no outs in the second inning on their way to cutting into the deficit. Cortney Somsky sent a single to center to score Elle Harrison to make it 9-1 after two.
- Three consecutive singles in the third inning led to another run for the Foresters.
- Skidmore first baseman Caitlyn Dion knocked in Grace O'Connell before scoring on an error to make the score 10-3.
- Right fielder Rachel Monser brought home two runs for the Thoroughbreds with a single to right for an 11-5 margin in the fourth inning before O'Connell had an RBI single to right a frame later for a 12-6 score.
- Lake Forest added two runs in the sixth inning and held Skidmore off the scoreboard in their half to end the game.
- Somsky was 2 for 2 with a run, O'Connell was 1 for 2 with two runs and an RBI, and Monser had a hit with two walks and a run batted in. O'Connell, who was also hit by two pitches, added two stolen bases.
- The Foresters, who stole six bags in the game, got four hits, two runs, two RBI, and a stolen base from center fielder Emmie Nyen. Jolie Devalk added three hits, three runs, three runs batted in, and a steal.
- Kelly Collins earned the win from the circle, while Madi Gambino took the loss.

New England 14, Skidmore 6
- After leaving the bases loaded and allowing two runs in the first inning, the Thoroughbreds broke out with four runs in the second to take a 4-2 lead.
- Cortney Somsky (double), Elle Harrison (sac bunt), Grace O'Connell (single), and Franchesca Casillas (single) all picked up RBIs in the second with Harrison and O'Connell also scoring runs.
- The Nor'Easters answered right back with four runs in their half of the frame to regain the lead. They were helped by four hits and a pair of errors before leaving the bases loaded.
- New England made it 8-4 with two unearned runs in the third inning, but Skidmore countered in the top of the fourth on a two-run double by Rachel Monser.
- The Nor'Easters went on to score the next six runs over the final inning-and-a-half to close the contest with an eight-run margin.
- Six different players had one hit in the game for the Thoroughbreds, including Harrison, who scored twice with an RBI. Somsky added three walks, a run, an RBI, and two stolen bases. Monser took the loss in the circle.
- Mo Kinsella went the distance for New England to earn the win. Offensively, the team had 15 hits with Kinsella going 3 for 4 with a run and four runs batted in. Becca Dumont also had three hits with two runs and three knocked in.
