#31 Skidmore blanked by #19 Case Western Reserve

TRINITY, Texas – The 31st ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team opened its Texas trip with a 9-0 defeat to #19 Case Western Reserve on Monday.

  • Katie Wong and Konika Dhull forced Patel/Wang into a tiebreak in the second doubles match.
  • Grace Truong won four games in her match at second singles and went to a second-set tiebreak but was unable to win to force the deciding set.
  • Wong won five games in her match at fourth singles.
  • Beilynn Geiss claimed six games at sixth singles.
  • CWR (6-2) used seven players. Five of them won at both doubles and singles.
  • From head coach Curt Speerschneider: ""We came in a bit tentative and weren't able to right the ship after that.  I think we waited to see what our opponents would do, which never turns out good.  We need to forget this one and get back to playing our games and trusting our shots to take control.  This one was a bit of a misfire, but we're looking forward to another opportunity tomorrow."
NEXT UP: Skidmore (2-2) will battle 29th-ranked Southwestern University Tuesday at 1 p.m. central.
