Unbeaten Thoroughbreds set win steak record with 16-12 win over BSC

HICKORY, N.C.— The 20th ranked Skidmore College men's lacrosse team remained unbeaten with a 16-12 win over Birmingham Southern College Sunday. The Thoroughbreds are off to a 7-0 start and have won eight straight, going back to the 2023 season. The previous record was set in 2005. It was the first loss of the season for 6-1 BSC.
  • Charlie McFadden led the way with four goals and five ground balls. McFadden's first goal of the game at the end of the first quarter was the 100th for his career. He's the eighth Thoroughbred to reach that mark.
  • Brian Gonsalves, Charlie Kessler, Tim Blue, and Jack Doherty had two goals each. Gonsalves added four ground balls. Jack Fitzpatrick contributed a game-high six ground balls. Matt Terrana won 18 of 21 face offs.
  • Cameron Herd and Raymond Fracchia had four goals and an assist each for the Panthers.
  • Skidmore led the entire way after scoring the first three goals of the game. The Thoroughbreds led 4-1 lead after one and 7-4 at the half.
  • The lead extended to 16-10 in the fourth quarter on goals by Blue and McFadden 21 seconds apart. BSC added a pair late for the 16-12 final.
  • Skidmore had a 58-42 shot and 42-21 ground ball advantage.
  • Avery Stamps had 13 saves in goal.
  • NEXT UP: The Thoroughbreds continue the Southern Tour on March 13 against Sewanee at the Durham County Memorial Stadium.
