SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team won its ninth straight game on Friday night, 65-37, over William Smith. The Thoroughbreds played in front of a crowd north of 1,000 for Skidmore's annual Big Green Scream event.
- The Thoroughbreds improve to 18-4 overall and 13-2 in the Liberty League. Skidmore remains one game up, with the tiebreaker in its pocket, over Ithaca for second place. William Smith is 5-17 and 5-10 and is tied for seventh.
- Amelia Medolla scored a game high 15 point to lead the way for the Thoroughbreds. She connected for a career high five 3-pointers as Skidmore swooshed 11 bombs as a team for the evening, sending the packed house of 1,080 into a near constant state of mayhem.
- Julia Blanck had 10 points with seven rebounds, three steals, two blocks, and two assists. The Thoroughbreds were plus-34 with her on the court.
- Andi Levitz scored eight points off the bench fueled by a pair of made 3-pointers.
- Emilija Jakumaite, Madison Meyer, and Melissa Severino pitched in with six points apiece. Jakumaite added five assists, and Meyer had three.
- Cassie Davidson led with three blocks. Skidmore finished with an 8-1 edge in blocked shots.
- Amelia McCulley and Giana Lobozzo paced the Herons with seven points each.
- Skidmore never trailed but did not separate itself until the middle of the second quarter. William Smith got itself to within one in the last minute of the first period and Skidmore was without a double-digit lead until the middle of the second.
- The Thoroughbreds vaulted ahead with 11 unanswered points as part of a 20-4 second quarter for a 36-16 halftime lead.
- Skidmore led by as many as 29 down the stretch.
- The hosts finished with a 30-14 advantage in points in the paint and scored 30 bench points to WSC's 20.
- Skidmore shot 47.4 percent (27-of-57) from the field and finished 39.3 percent (11-of-28) from beyond the arc.
- Despite finishing 21.1 (12-of-57) shooting, William Smith was 91.7 percent (11-of-12) at the foul line.
NEXT UP: Skidmore will honor its seniors and round out the home regular season schedule Saturday at 2 p.m. against RIT.
