OAKLAND, Calif. – Former Skidmore pitching coach Mike McFerran was hired by the Oakland A's as the organization's pitching performance coach.
 
For the past three seasons, McFerran served as the Pitching Lab coordinator and director of player development at Wake Forest University. McFerran and the Demon Deacons climbed the ranks to #1 in the nation and a College World Series appearance in 2023. The team made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2022 and 2023.
 
McFerran, a Capital Region native, served under head coach Ron Plourde as the associate head coach, pitching coach, and recruiting coordinator at Skidmore from 2017-20. McFerran coached four pitchers to All-Liberty League status while on staff.
