Pack the Rink Preview 2024

‘Pack the Rink’, Senior Day, highlight men’s hockey home-opening weekend

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's hockey team will play its first home games of the 2024-25 season this weekend against visiting Babson. Friday night's annual Pack the Rink event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Saratoga City Rink. Then, on Saturday, the two teams will face off again at 4 p.m.

Skidmore, ranked No. 9 nationally, is off to a 1-0 start following last Saturday's 3-0 victory at Wentworth. Babson is also 1-0 after knocking off No. 11 Plymouth State 5-4 last weekend. New England Hockey Conference points are always at a premium, and this weekend's action is sure to be exciting.

As part of Skidmore Cares, the event features a canned food drive with free custom Pack the Rink T-shirts available to anyone who donates (while supplies last), along with other promotions and games. Admission to regular-season Skidmore Athletics games is always free.

Pack the Rink began in 2010 as a kick-off to the winter sports season, inviting the campus community, particularly Skidmore students, to a game. Becoming a hockey fan is only natural after that. Over the past decade and a half, it has grown into a Skidmore tradition, representing school spirit in a way few other events can. It's uniquely Skidmore.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early for Friday night's game, as the program will hold a Senior Day ceremony at 6:45 p.m. ahead of puck drop.
