BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Skidmore College women's basketball team fell to Bowdoin College 74-44 on Saturday in a non-conference matchup. Bowdoin, ranked seventh nationally, used a dominant second-half performance and points off turnovers to pull away for the win.
- Skidmore (1-1) kept pace in the first quarter, trailing 23-16 after Cassie Davidson scored 10 points, including two 3-pointers. However, Bowdoin's efficient shooting (64.3%) gave the Polar Bears an early edge.
- Bowdoin (2-0) extended its lead in the second quarter, outscoring Skidmore 17-11 to take a 40-27 advantage into halftime. Sydney Jones led the way for the Polar Bears with 22 points, five rebounds, and five steals.
- Skidmore's offense struggled in the second half, scoring just 17 points combined over the final two quarters. Bowdoin capitalized on 20 Thoroughbred turnovers, converting them into 28 points.
- Emmy Plage provided a spark off the bench for Skidmore, finishing with 11 points and five rebounds. Davidson added 10 points, but Skidmore shot just 37.3 percent from the field and 12.5 percent from the free-throw line.
- Bowdoin controlled the paint with a 44-12 scoring advantage and outrebounded Skidmore 47-30, including a 20-8 edge on the offensive glass.
- The Polar Bears sealed the victory with a strong defensive fourth quarter, holding the Thoroughbreds to just five points while adding 17 of their own.
- Sydney Jones led the way for the hosts with 22 points, five steals, five rebounds, and three assists.
