SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Despite a career high 11 saves from junior goalkeeper
Will Devall, the Skidmore men's soccer team came up short in a 1-0 loss to nationally 20
th-ranked Vassar on Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.
- Devall made nine saves alone in the second half featuring diving and sprawling stops on either side.
- Reserve striker Joshua Lee scored the goal for the Brewers in the 67th minute off a feed from Jared Fiske in the center of the box on a hard cut head on. The opportunity started after a Skidmore turnover near midfield. The ball rolled just beyond Devall's outstretched arm for Lee's second goal of the season.
- Vassar has won three in a row to improve to 8-2 and a perfect 3-0 in the Liberty League.
- Skidmore is 1-2-6 and 0-1-2.
- The Thoroughbreds had a few good looks at goal. None better than in just the sixth inning when Colin Goodhines took a strike from inside 20 yards on a Skidmore free kick that rang off the crossbar.
- The Thoroughbreds fired off four shots on goal in total. Jacob Raphan stopped them all for the guests, two in each half, to earn the shutout.
- Cole Rogan led Skidmore with three shot attempts. Four different Thoroughbreds registered shots on goal.
- Vassar led in total shots 27-13. Arden Tobolski let off nine of them.
- The Brewers took seven out of the game's eight corner kicks.
- Vassar was called for 11 fouls to Skidmore's six. Skidmore had four yellow cards and Vassar was shown three.
