Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Skidmore stays unbeaten on the road and earns weekend sweep with 2-0 win at Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's soccer team improved its road record to 4-0-4 as it defeated Ithaca 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds complete the weekend road sweep following Friday's 1-0 victory at RIT.
  • Skidmore doubled its win total on the year during the weekend. The Thoroughbreds are now 4-2-6 overall and 3-1-2 (11 points) in the Liberty League. Skidmore is tied with Hobart for third.
  • David Garvin and Colin Goodhines were the goal-scorers for the victorious Thoroughbreds. Both goals were unassisted.
  • Will Devall made three saves for his second shutout of the weekend and fifth of the year. The junior keeper has surrendered just one goal over his last five starts.
  • Despite a 20-11 edge in shots, Ithaca managed just three shots on goal against the stingy Skidmore defense. On the flipside, Skidmore turned six out of its 11 shot attempts on goal.
  • Johannes Berghahn made four saves for the hosts.
  • The first half was scoreless until just under 11 minutes remaining when Garvin took a good bounce and turned it into a goal after pushing through a pair of defenders and finishing low.
  • Ithaca had each of the contest's first six shot attempts in the opening 16:09.
  • The Bombers, despite taking looks at goal, continued their collective trouble finding the frame in the second half with just one shot on goal. Devall handled it after Goodhines made it 2-0.
  • The Goodhines goal with just 1:33 left iced it, highlighting a superb individual effort. Against a 1-on-5, Goodhines zigged and weaved through and around the line of defenders in the box before finally finishing with the left boot. It was the sophomore's team leading fifth goal of the year.
  • Ithaca finished with a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. Skidmore was whistled for 18 fouls. Ithaca had 12. Neither side was shown a caution in the game.
