SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team moved to 2-0 in 2024 with a 65-52 victory over visiting Rensselaer on Friday evening.

- Senior Julia Blanck set a new career mark with 26 points. She excelled at the free-throw line, finishing 14-of-15 (93.3 percent). She also pulled down 16 rebounds with five blocks, an assist, and a steal. It is the third time this year that she has gone for 20 or more points with 10-plus rebounds.
- The Thoroughbreds improve to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the Liberty League. RPI is 4-7 and 1-3.
- Emmy Plage and Andi Levitz, both off the bench, dropped nine points apiece.
- Amelia Medolla scored eight.
- The lead changed hands eight times in the first half, but neither side led by more than four over the first 20 minutes.
- Back-to-back Levitz and Plage 3-pointers gave Skidmore the lead, 30-26, with 3:19 left in the second quarter. Skidmore was ahead 32-30 at the break.
- The Engineers went nearly six minutes without a point in the third period allowing Skidmore to expand its lead to double digits for the first time.
- Five quick RPI points in the middle of the fourth quarter closed the gap to four before the Thoroughbreds regained control. The two buckets in succession were RPI's only field goals over the first 8:40 of the last stanza.
- As a team, Skidmore went 14-for-18 (77.8 percent) at the free-throw line over the final 2:34 for the 65-52 final.
- Skidmore has defeated RPI in six straight match ups. Â
NEXT UP: Skidmore goes for the weekend sweep Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. against visiting Union College. The Garnet Chargers fell on the road at Ithaca College on Friday night, 70-43.
