#13 Thoroughbreds ice Spartans 4-1

RUTLAND, Vt.—The 13th ranked Skidmore College men's hockey team won its fourth straight 4-1 over Vermont State University Castleton in New England Hockey Conference action Friday night in the first game of the home-and-home series. The Thoroughbreds are 13-3-2 overall and 8-2-1 in NEHC play. VTSU Castleton is 7-11 and 4-7.
  • Danny Magnuson scored his seventh goal of the season for a 1-0 lead at 3:02 of the first. Will Dow-Kenny and Jacob Franczak assisted. Zach Papapetros tied it at 6:36. Skidmore went in front 2-1 on Ryan Waltman's seventh goal of the season, a power-play goal at 16:44 from Freddy Ilias and Connor Wood.
  • Jaden York joined the seven-goal club to extend the lead to 3-1 from Will Dow-Kenny and Magnuson at 7:51 of the second.
  • Cooper Rice opened the third period with his fourth goal of the season at the :43 mark. Ilias and Zach Frisk had the assists.
  • Skidmore outshot Castleton 50-22. Tate Brandon improved to 13-1-2 with 21 saves, improving his goals against average to 1.46 and save percentage to .947.
