Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Thoroughbreds frustrate #1 William Smith 1-1

GENEVA, N.Y.— The Skidmore College women's soccer team battled back to tie top-ranked William Smith 1-1 in a Liberty League match-up Saturday in Geneva. The Thoroughbreds are 4-1-3 overall and 0-1-1 in league play. The Herons are 4-0-3 and 0-0-2.

** After going 12 years without a point against the Herons, the Thoroughbreds have two in the last two years after a 1-1 tie last season. It's the first road point since a 2009 1-1 tie.
** Down 1-0, Izzy Sullivan leveled the game at 61:17 from Ellianna Caporusso. It was the third goal of the season for the team-leader. Two of the three have been game-winners to go along with the tying goal against William Smith.
** Claire Wolgast was tough in net with nine saves, including six in the second half. The Herons outshot Skidmore 8-4 and  had a 7-1 corner edge.
** NEXT UP: Skidmore will host Vassar College on Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. in another Liberty League contest.
