SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— The Skidmore College men's soccer team opened Liberty League play with a 2-1 loss to Hobart College Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field. The Thoroughbreds drop to 1-4-2 overall and 0-1 in league play, while the Statesmen are 2-4-1.

** Hobart struck first when Steven Pickering sent a well-placed header into the upper right corner at 38:11.
** Skidmore evened it 1-1 early in the second half when
Leo Kachanovsky fired a shot from the left side that caught the far corner at 48:42. It was his first goal of the season.
** The Statesmen nearly went back in front minutes later, but
Luca Bravo Frederick made a diving save on a Brian Sheehan shot in the 55
th minute to keep it tied.
** Hobart broke through on a corner when Chris Friedlander scored off a loose ball in front at 85:05.
** Frederick finished with season-high seven saves, including five in the second half. The Statesmen led 17-7 in shots and 5-2 in corners.
** The game marked the 18
th time in the last 21 meetings that the teams played a match decided by one or fewer goals.
