Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Thoroughbreds dropped by #22 Clarkson in conference opener, 2-0

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season on Wednesday afternoon at the hands of national 22nd-ranked Clarkson, 2-0.

  • The Golden Knights scored twice in the first half – in the 10th and 29th minutes – and shut it down in the second half to begin Liberty League play at 1-0. Clarkson is still unbeaten at 6-0-2.
  • The loss snaps Skidmore's nine-game unbeaten streak going back to the middle of October of the 2022 season.
  • The Thoroughbreds are 4-1-2 overall.
  • Despite being outshot 13-11, Skidmore finished with an 8-6 edge in shots on goal.
  • Clarkson keeper Molly DiCaprio, the hero of Clarkson's 2022 penalty-kick win over Skidmore, turned away all eight shots she saw.
  • Claire Wolgast made four saves for Skidmore.
  • Katheryn Dunn led all players in the game with five total shots and three shots on goal.
  • Kyra Russman-Araya fired both of her shot attempts on frame.
  • Chloe Hodge scored from Emily Davis, who went on to score the second Clarkson goal, to give the hosts a 1-0 lead at the 9:04 mark.
  • Davis found the back of the net with the help from Maddie Lopol just shy of the 29-minute mark to double the lead.
  • It proved to be enough for the Golden Knights. Skidmore pressured in the second half, with six of the game's final seven shots, but were unable to break through.
NEXT UP: Skidmore will travel to top-ranked William Smith College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
