WATERVILLE, Maine— Skidmore avoided overtime with three goals the final 2:21 for a 4-1 comeback field hockey win over Thomas College. It was the season opener for the Thoroughbreds, while Thomas is 0-2.
** Thomas grabbed a 1-0 lead off a corner at the 17:34 mark. Skidmore responded when
Beth Yorns scored her first of two goals at 20:32.
** The scored stayed tied until late in the fourth quarter when the Thoroughbred offense erupted for three goals in a 1:16 span.
Kayla Hassett opened the rally from
Anna D'Amore at 57:39.
Abby Ezickson made it 2-1 with her first collegiate goal, coming off a corner from
Mia Angwin and Yorns at 58:13. Yorns capped the run at 58:55.
** Skidmore dominated play, outshooting the host team 28-6 with a 12-7 penalty corner advantage.
Victoria Bodnar had two saves in goal for the win.
