CASTLETON, Vt.—The Skidmore College field hockey team lost 3-0 to VTSU Castleton in a non-league road game Friday night. The Thoroughbreds are 2-2, while the Spartans move to 4-1.
 
** Skidmore came into the game averaging 4.3 goals per game, but couldn't solve the Castleton defense.
** Emily Harris scored two first quarter goals that held up for the Spartans.
** Castleton had a 12-5 shot and 8-7 corner edge.
** Victoria Bodnar stopped six shots for the Thoroughbreds.
** Coach Beth Hallenbeck: "Despite the loss, the Skidmore team played with collective effort and heart. Ari Spiezio, Tobi Dolan and Anna D'Amore had very strong performances for the Thoroughbreds.  Kayla Hassett played with stellar skill, outstanding grit and strong leadership."
** NEXT UP: Skidmore is at Babson on Sept. 20 at 4 p.m.
