Skidmore falters at #2 Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Skidmore College field hockey team dropped a 7-0 decision to nationally second-ranked Babson College on the road on Wednesday afternoon.
 
  • The Babson win avenged last season's 2-1 Skidmore overtime win against the then seventh-ranked Beaver team.
  • Skidmore is 2-3 headed to its first conference game this weekend.
  • Babson is 7-1 with its only loss against top-ranked Middlebury.
  • Junior goalie Victoria Bodnar made 10 saves in 32 minutes between the pipes for the Thoroughbreds.
  • Sophomore Juliana Yglesias and first-year Nicole Sylvestri combined for five saves.
  • Brianne McGrath scored twice for the host Beavers. Six other players scored.
  • Junior Beth Yorns managed the lone shot on goal for Skidmore midway through the third quarter.
  • Babson scored 67 seconds into the contest and twice more to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
  • Babson scored twice in the first three minutes of the third quarter and then again four minutes later to lead 6-0 after three periods. The Beavers added one more in the fourth quarter with 5:30 remaining.
NEXT UP: Skidmore will travel to St. Lawrence on Saturday to open Liberty League play at 2 p.m. in Canton.
