SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's soccer team opened the 2023 campaign with a 1-0 win over SUNY Brockport Friday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.

Izzy Sullivan registered the game's lone goal off a perfect cross from
Ella Stone at 66:31. Sullivan's well-placed shot to the left side easily beat the Brockport keeper.
** The teams traded first-half chances. The Golden Eagles failed to convert a penalty in the 43
rd minute as the attempt dribbled wide left.
** The Thoroughbreds controlled play in the second half, appearing to score a goal on a restart in the 62
nd minute, but it was waived off for offsides.
** Skidmore had a 25-13 shot advantage.
Avery Rogers had four saves for her first collegiate win and shutout. Madeline McCrosson stopped 12 shots for Brockport. The Golden Eagles had a 5-3 corner edge.
** Both teams used 20 players.
**NEXT UP: Skidmore will host St. John Fisher on Sept. 2 at 3 p.m. as the Thoroughbreds open the season with six straight home games.
