SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Following his second season at the helm of the Skidmore College rowing program, head coach Manny Valentin was named the Regional Coach of the Year by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA).
 
Valentin was one of 13 coaches across all three divisions, including just one of just four coaches in Division III, to be recognized with the award. He represented the New York region under the Division III.
 
Under Coach Valentin's guidance, both the men's and women's programs took sizable leaps in the 2022-23 season highlighted by national ranks for both programs. The women's squad came in as high as #13 nationally in the CRCA Poll while the men checked in at #15 in the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) Preseason Poll.
 
At the Liberty League Championship, the women's varsity 8 crew finished in second place and the men's top boat was fifth. Skidmore returned to the national scene in the 2022-23 season fueled by an appearance at the Head of the Charles® Regatta in October.
