Baseball’s Hasan, Bourque selected to Honor Roll

(L-R) Ameer Hasan, Trey Bourque
TROY, N.Y. – Sophomore Trey Bourque and junior Ameer Hasan from the Skidmore College baseball team were selected to the Liberty League Honor Roll for the week ending May 7.

The Thoroughbreds took some revenge on Clarkson on Saturday with a sweep in a crossover series. Skidmore will host the Liberty League Championship tournament May 11-13.

Bourque homered twice, once in each game, to lead Skidmore offensively. He got the party going in game one with a three-run homer in the first inning to make it 5-0. He finished the game with five hits, four runs, and four RBI. He hit a homer again in game two in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Thoroughbreds a 3-2 lead. Skidmore went on to win, 6-5, on a walk-off single in the eighth. On the day, Bourque was 6-for-10 with two home runs, five RBI, five runs scored, and two doubles.

Hasan, Skidmore's game one starting pitcher, earned his sixth victory of the year. He went six innings and allowed just one run on nine hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out five. In the top of the first, he faced a bases-loaded, no-out jam. He struck out three consecutive hitters to get out of the inning. Skidmore scored nine runs in the bottom of the first on the way to a 23-1 win.

Skidmore will open the tournament against third-seeded RIT on Thursday at 4 p.m.
