Doubles sweep carries RPI past Skidmore in Liberty League semifinal

ITHACA, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's tennis dropped a 5-0 match to Rensselaer in the Liberty League semifinals Saturday at Cornell University. The 34th ranked Thoroughbreds end the season at 10-8, #33 RPI is 12-6 and will play Hobart or Vassar in Sunday's championship match.
  • RPI rallied from 5-1 down to win number one doubles 8-7 (7-4) and take a 3-0 lead after doubles.
  • The Engineers had straight set wins three and five singles for the 5-0 win.
  • The show down at number one singles between Aiden Dover-Mattinen and Brendan Jimenez went unfinished. Drover-Mattinen won the first set 7-6, while Jimenez took the second set 6-0. The third set did not start.
  • Jimenez will wait to hear on an at-large NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles berth with teammate Nika Mori.
