SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Out of a timeout with under 10 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter of a 9-9 game, Thoroughbred junior
Charlie McFadden carried the ball around the cage, spun to his left to dodge his mark, and beat the Clarkson goalie with 2.6 seconds left to give the Skidmore College men's lacrosse team a dramatic 10-9 victory on Saturday.

- Skidmore's season is complete with a 10-6 record (3-4 Liberty League) and the program's fourth-ever 10-win season and the second since 2005 (other 2011).
- The Thoroughbreds tied for fourth in the Liberty League at the completion of the regular season with Clarkson and St. Lawrence. Skidmore is the odd team out of the three-team tiebreaker procedure.
- The victory is Skidmore's first over Clarkson since the 2014 season.
- McFadden led the way for Skidmore with four points and his second goal of the contest was the game winner. He finished the year with an even 40 goals and 22 assists for 62 points.
- Brian Gonsalves also reached the 40-goal plateau with three tallies today to finish the season with 41 goals and 14 over his final three games.
- In a battle of strong goaltending play, Collin Kuester came out on top for the Thoroughbreds with 15 saves to go along with two caused turnovers and three ground balls. Jacob Mattice made 17 saves for the Golden Knights.
- Five other players (Paul Heffernan, Jon Bouvier, Jimmy Gibbons, Charlie Kessler, Tim Blue) found the back of the net for Skidmore.
- Jack Fitzpatrick, who went 12-10 on faceoffs for Skidmore, had an assist.
- Sebastian Geiger had a goal and two assists for the visitors. Matt Reilly went for one goal, one assist, while Bryan Penney and Joe Kelley each scored twice.
- Skidmore allowed just two first-half goals, including a second-quarter shutout, to take a 6-2 lead into halftime. Kuester made 10 of his 15 saves in the opening 30 minutes.
- Clarkson clawed its way back into the game by scoring the first three goals to open the third quarter.
- Skidmore got the next two, but Clarkson went on a 4-1 run and used its third man-up goal of the contest to tie it at nine with 1:18 remaining.
- Fitzpatrick exploded out of the blocks to secure the faceoff win and give Skidmore the all-important possession. Shortly thereafter, Gonsalves saved a potential Skidmore turnover by securing a ground ball in a busy scramble for a loose ball. His shot with 9.8 seconds left whistled wide leading to Clarkson using a timeout.
- Skidmore caused 10 Clarkson turnovers, led by JJ Jablonowski, who had three. He also had four ground balls.
- Heffernan, who scored his first goal of the season in the third quarter, caused two turnovers with three ground balls.
- Skidmore edged Clarkson 45-41 in shots and 27-24 in shots on goal. Clarkson committed 22 turnovers to Skidmore's 13. The Golden Knights rode away with a 45-35 edge in ground balls.
- Following the game, Skidmore honored its five graduating seniors: Ryan Flynn, Jack Whalen, Tommy McGarrahan, Ned Wright, and Paul Heffernan.
