Thoroughbreds drop midweek game to Williams, 16-2

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— Williams College took advantage of timely hitting and sloppy Skidmore College defense in a 16-2 non-league win over the Thoroughbreds Wednesday afternoon at Castle Diamond. Skidmore is 16-7, while the Ephs move to 9-10.
  • The Thoroughbreds committed five errors. Only six of the 16 Williams runs were earned.
  • The Ephs broke open a 4-1 game with three runs in the eighth and nine in the ninth.
  • Skidmore's Jackson Hornung hit his team-high fifth home run of the season in the first inning. He finished 2-4, accounting for two of his team's five hits.
  • Zachary Zeiderman drilled a 1-2 pitch over the wall in left in the ninth inning for his first home run of the season to account for the team's second run.
  • Skidmore used nine pitchers. Starter Matt Karpousis took the loss. Ethan Barnett tossed three innings of shutout relief. He didn't allow a hit, walking three and striking out two.
