SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College softball team came out on the short end of a nonleague doubleheader Wednesday against Plattsburgh State. The Cardinals won the first game in eight innings, 4-3 and came back to take the night cap, 7-4. The thoroughbreds are 3-10, while Plattsburgh is 6-2.

GAME 1
- Skidmore took the quick 2-0 lead in the first when Grace O'Connell doubled down the left field line to drive in Meghan Robertson and Melissa Mathias.
- Plattsburgh pieced together single runs in the third and fourth to send the game to extra innings.
- The Cardinals managed two runs in their half of the eighth. Skidmore got one back when Robertson drilled a full count single to right to score Mathias from second.
- Lindsey Raimondi had a career-high 10 strikeouts for the Thoroughbreds. She went all eight, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks.Â
GAME 2
- Plattsburgh scored four in the first for the early 4-0 lead. Skidmore responded with two in its half of the inning. O'Connell had an RBI triple to right center to score Robertson who opened the inning with a single. O'Connell then scored on a throwing error to cut it to 4-2.
- The Cardinals added single runs in the second and fifth to increase the lead to 6-2.
- The Thoroughbreds scored one in the fifth when Robertson opened the inning with a single and then scored on O'Connell's two-out double to center to make it 6-3.
- Both teams scored single runs in the seventh. Skidmore's run came via Robertson again. She led off with a two-strike double to right and then scored on a Carolina Garcia infield out.
- Robertson finished 3-4 with three runs and a double. She also tossed a complete game. O'Connell was 3-4 with two RBI, a double and a triple.
