TROY, N.Y.—All-American catcher
Jackson Hornung went 3-4 with two home runs, a triple and four RBI in an 11-4 game one win at Rensselaer. Then the Thoroughbreds took game 2 13-7 behind a home run and five RBI from
Sam Kornet. Skidmore is
(9-4, 1-0 Liberty League), while the Engineers are (8-5-1 and 0-1). The teams will finish the series with a single game Sunday at RPI.

GAME 1
- Hornung took a first inning pitch deep over the center field fence for a two-run homer. Kornet made it 3-0 in the second with his first home run of the season.
- Hornung tripled to left center in the third inning, driving in Danny Melillo who reached on a double to open the inning. Jaden Torrado made it 5-0 with a two-out triple to plate Hornung.
- Hornung led off the fifth with his fourth home run of the young season for a 6-0 lead.
- Torrado had a solo home run in the eighth. Trey Bourque and Kornet had RBI doubles in the ninth.
- Kornet was 4-5 with three doubles and a home run.
- Quinn Hocom moved to 2-0, allowing two runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and six walks in 5.0 innings.

Game 2
- Skidmore scored seven runs in the first and never looked back in the 13-7 win.
- Kornet, who came into the day 2-for-27, went 2-5 in game two with a three-run home run and five RBI. He finished 6-9 with 3 runs, 8 RBI, 2 HR, and 3 2B.
- The Engineers tried to pitch around Hornung, hitting him and walking him once, but he still managed an RBI single and two runs scored.
- Melillo and Brendan O'Neill had two hits each.
- Ameer Hasan shook off early trouble to go 3-0. He went the full seven, allowing seven runs on 12 hits, striking out six and walking zero.
- Skidmore has won six straight against the Engineers.
