#31 Thoroughbreds drop tight 5-4 decision to #22 Washington and Lee

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The nationally 31st-ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team was unable to capture a sweep of top-25 teams at the Blue Grey Invitational. The Thoroughbreds fell to #22 Washington and Lee, 5-4, on Saturday.
 
  • Skidmore led, 2-1, after doubles. Ella Provost and Grace Truong captured an 8-5 win at the first spot. Beilynn Geiss and Konika Dhull won in a tiebreakers in the third match: 8-7 (7-2).
  • Provost battled to a three-set win at fourth singles to tie the match up at four apiece. She dropped the first set before winning in the second in a tiebreaker ahead of running out of steam in the third set.
  • Dhull had Skidmore's other singles win, a clean 7-5, 6-3 win at fifth singles.
  • The last singles match decided it. Grace Truong forced a third set after falling behind 1-0. Gabi Moss pulled out a 7-5 win in the third to clinch it for Washington and Lee.
  • NEXT UP: Skidmore will host Brandeis University in a dual on Sunday, March 26.
