Records continue to fall on Day 2 of Liberty League Championships

ITHACA, N.Y.—It as another day of success for the Skidmore College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competing in the Liberty League Championships being at the Ithaca College Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium. The teams combined to set four individual and three relay records.
  • The men's 200 free relay of Gavin Schiavi, Liam Keating, Nic Sodi, and Brendan Lu set a new school standard with a fourth place time of 1:25.52, shattering the previous mark set in 2013. Schiavi broke the 50 free record with a 21.64 on the leadoff leg.
  • Lizzie Day and Gretchen Gwitt both earned podium finishes in the 100 fly. Day lowered her own record in the prelims with a 57.64 time. She finished fourth in the finals (57.70). Gwitt was also under the previous record with her sixth place time of 58.45. Lydia Walker was 15th (1:02.13).
  • Lu lowered his own men's 100 fly record with a 51.65 in the prelims. He finished 12th in the finals (51.95). Nathan Randall was 24th (57.94).
  • Sodi broke the 200 free record with his third place time of 1:41.55. Keegan Scharoun was 23rd (1:50.83) and Ethan Hull was 24th (1:51.21).
  • The women's 400 medley relay team lowered the previous record by nearly five seconds. Ella Palmet, Rachel Olson, Gretchen Gwitt, and Lizzie Day finished fifth in 4:00.77.
  • The men's 400 medley relay team of Sodi, Keating, Lu and Schiavi dropped the program record by more than five seconds with a fourth place time of 3:26.83.
  • The women's 200 free relay of Elissa Miller, Chloe Kim, Lydia Walker, and Gwitt finished sixth in 1:42.28.
  • Ginny Hunt was 15th in the 400 IM (4:57.84) and Catherine Shen was 20th (5:12.58).
  • Alex Jefferson took 17th in the men's 400 IM (4:20.02).
  • Kim was 23rd in the women's 200 free (2:01.83).
  • Tomas Ruiz took eighth in the 1M Dive (349.50).
  • Ithaca leads the women's scoring after two days with 860 points. Skidmore is sixth with 296.5. RIT is first in the men's standings with 914. The Thoroughbreds are fourth with 416.
