SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's basketball team clinched quarterfinal Liberty League tournament bye with a 71-66 win over Vassar College Saturday
afternoon at the Williamson Sports Center. With two league games remaining, the Thoroughbreds are 18-5 and 14-2. The Brewers are 15-8 and 12-4.

- Amelia Medolla scored a career-high 21 points and had four assists and two steals to lead the Thoroughbreds. Julia Blanck had her fifth double/double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Kate McCarney added nine points and three assists off the bench.
- Julia Harvey led Vassar with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Alex Lee scored 10 points.
- Vassar used three early threes to open a 19-9 first quarter lead. Skidmore responded with a consecutive pair of Blanck field goals to drop the deficit to six, 19-13 at the end of the first quarter.
- The Thoroughbreds continued to roll in the second quarter, opening with an 11-4 run to take a 24-23 lead with 5:38 to play. Maddie Hastings had a steal and the layup to cap the rally and that put Skidmore in front. The Thoroughbreds kept the lead, taking a 35-34 lead into the locker room.
- The game stayed tight in the third quarter, until Skidmore held the Brewers to two free throws during an 11-2 run over the final five minutes for a 54-45 lead after three.
- The Thoroughbreds stretched the lead to 16, 63-47 with 6:31 to play, but the Brewers made some timely threes and took advantage of some missed Skidmore free throws to close to within four, 69-65 with :32 seconds left. Medolla hit a pair of free throws with :30 left to secure the win.
- Skidmore took advantage of its superior bench strength, outscoring Vassar 31-15.
- The win completes the season sweep of the Brewers for the first time since the 2015-16 season. Skidmore won 60-52 on Jan. 13 in Poughkeepsie.
- The 14 league wins ties the program record set in 2017-18 when the team went 14-4 in league play and 18-10 overall, winning the Liberty League tournament.
- Ithaca clinched first place, with Skidmore second. The two teams will host semifinal games on Feb. 24. The six-team tournament begins with two quarterfinal games on Feb. 21. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26 on the campus of the highest remaining seed.
- NEXT UP: The Thoroughbreds close out the regular season at home Feb. 17 and 18. St. Lawrence is up first on Friday at 5:30 in the team's Stable Game. Clarkson is the opponent at 2 p.m. on Saturday. It will be the Big Green Scream and Senior Day.
