Contributions all around for Thoroughbreds in rout of Bard

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team defeated visiting Bard College, 79-20, on Friday evening at Williamson Sports Center. With three games remaining in the regular season, the second-place Thoroughbreds are 17-5 and 13-2 in the Liberty League. Bard is 1-19 and 0-15.
 
  • All 13 players on the roster scored at least one point for the Thoroughbreds, who improve to 11-2 since the turn of the calendar.
  • Amelia Medolla and Kate McCarney led the way with 12 points apiece going a combined 5-for-7 from 3-point range.
  • Emilija Jakumaite had a season high 10 points.
  • Becca Horger dropped nine, and Jazlin Chen had eight. Julia Blanck and Madison Meyer scored six each.
  • Maddie Hastings recorded six steals to go along with five rebounds and four points.
  • For Bard, Shirley Dong finished with 10 points.
  • Skidmore built its advantage early on and did not look back. Skidmore scored nine straight points in the early goings and then 10 unanswered later to lead at the end of the first quarter, 21-5.
  • Bard scored 11 of its 20 points in the second quarter, including connections on its last two field goal attempts, but Skidmore countered with 24 points of its own to take a 29-point halftime lead.
  • Skidmore held the Raptors to just four points in the second half, which included a blank in the third quarter.
  • NEXT UP: Skidmore will look clinch a first-round bye in the upcoming Liberty League Tournament and a home semifinal game with a win over third-place Vassar on Saturday at home at 2 p.m. Skidmore will then turn its attention to St. Lawrence on Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m. and Clarkson on Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. for Senior Day and the Big Green Scream.
