Records fall on final day of Don Richards Invite

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up a successful fall semester with second place finishes at the RIT Don Richards Invitational. The host Tigers won both the men's and women's titles.
 
  • The men entered the final event (400 free relay) tied for second with Clarkson at 539 points. The Thoroughbred A team finished in second place ahead of the third-place Golden Knights with a school record 3:11.22. Nicolas Sodi, Brendan Lu, Ryan Delfico, and Gavin Schiavi edged Clarkson by 1.26 seconds.
  • Delfico also set program records with a first in the 400 IM (4:09.65) and eighth in the 200 fly (1:59.47)
  • Sodi won the 1650 free in 16:39.98.
  • On the women's side, Gretchen Gwitt won the 100 fly (59.59) and 200 fly (2:15.52).
  • The women's 200 medley relay team of Ella Palmet, Faye Mooney, Gwitt, and Kelly Hsu took third in 1:53.68. The men's team of Delfico, Liam Keating, Lu, and Schiavi was second in 1:36.50.
  • Caroline Rogers (4:51.40) and Ginny Hunt (4:59.66) went 3-4 in the 400 IM. Katherine Manaresi (5:08.33) was sixth and Elissa Miller took seventh.
  • Brandon Lis (4:26.14) was sixth in the 400 IM, just in front of Keating (4:26.23).
  • Kelly Hsu (1:01.45) finished sixth in the 100 fly, while Lu (52.20) took eighth for the men.
  • Sodi (1:44.78) was sixth in the 200 free.
  • In the 100 breast, Faye Mooney (1:10.74) was fifth and Holly Staats (1:12.94). For the men, Keating (58.96) was third, and Delfico (59:31) took fourth.
  • Hunt (1:02.97) took eighth in the women's 100 back. Keegan Scharoun (54.99) was sixth for the men, while Lis (58.21) was eighth.
  • In the 1650 free, Sabrina Reed (18:22.07) was third and April Cook (18:34.24) was fourth.
  • Rogers (2:11.01) was second in the 200 back, while Hunt (2:16.01) was seventh. For the men, Sodi (1:55.92) was fifth, Lis (2:02.14) seventh and Keegan Scharoun (2:03.25) eighth.
  • Ella Palmet (2:38.63) finished seventh in the 200 breast. Keating (2:10.02) was second for the men, while Aidan Darling (2:16.64) was eighth.
  • Sabrina Reed (2:19.60) took fourth in the 200 fly, while Rogers (2:23.58) was seventh.
  • The women's 400 free relay of Mooney, Reed, Kim, and Gwitt was third in 3:46.03.
  • Coach Jill Greenleaf: "Our team competed all meet with grit and enthusiasm.  Their willingness to push themselves and each other was evident by the large number of season and lifetime bests. Certainly the excitement is already building for what we'll be able to do at Liberty League championships in February!"
