SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team rolled to a 71-45 victory over visiting Russell Sage College on Wednesday evening in the season opener for both squads.

- The Thoroughbreds used points from 11 different players to wear down the Gators with a 39-4 edge in bench points.
- Off the bench, junior Andi Levitz led Skidmore in scoring with 18 points on a 5-for-10 night from beyond the arc and three more in three chances at the free-throw line.
- Senior Julia Blanck dropped 17 points, 15 in the first half, with nine rebounds, three blocks, two steals, and two assists. She finished a perfect 6-for-6 from the field in just over 20 minutes on the floor.
- Overall, Skidmore shot 49 percent (25-for-51) from the field with a 32-20 edge in points in the paint and finished ahead 13-5 in second-chance points.
- Skidmore scored the first basket of the contest 18 seconds in and held the lead the rest of the way.
- The Thoroughbreds held the guests scoreless for a period of 6:11 in the first quarter as they scored 16 unanswered points and led by 15, 21-6, after 10 minutes.
- The Skidmore lead swelled to as high as 27 when it went on another unanswered run of 14 points in a row to lead 35-8 at the mid-way point of the second quarter.
- The Skidmore advantage was at its highest at 71-42 with three minutes left in the fourth period.
- Sarah Chambers added seven points for the Thoroughbreds with three rebounds, while Emmy Plage and Cassie Davidson scored six apiece. Plage had six rebounds, including a game-high four offensive boards. Davidson had a rebound and a pair of assists.
- Melissa Severino contributed with a game-high four assists.
