Thoroughbreds tame Panthers, 59-42

MIDDLEBURY, Vt.—Julia Blanck scored 24 points and had 11 rebounds, three blocks and four steals to lead the Skidmore College women's basketball team to a 59-42 road win over Middlebury College Saturday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds are off to a 2-0 start, while the Panthers open their season at 0-1.
  • Blanck was 9-10 from the floor and 5-7 from the line. After being held scoreless in the first quarter, she hit for nine points in the second quarter to help the Thoroughbreds open a 33-14 lead at the break.
  • Andi Levitz came off the bench to score 13 points, including eight in the second quarter. Cassie Davidson added eight points and five rebounds.
  • Skidmore never trailed after Davidson drilled a three-pointer with 6:03 to play in the first quarter for a 3-2 Thoroughbred lead. Skidmore led 14-8 after one and then outscored the Panthers 19-6 for the 33-14 halftime lead. The Thoroughbreds led by as many as 26 in the third quarter.
  • Skidmore's bench outscored Middlebury 25-16.
  • The Thoroughbreds are 5-5 over the last 10 games against the Panthers have won two straight in Vermont.
