Thoroughbreds overwhelm Oneonta, 63-32, to move to 3-0

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the young season with a 63-32 road win at SUNY Oneonta on Tuesday evening.
 
  • Junior Amelia Medolla carried the load for the Thoroughbreds with 19 points on 8-of-14 (57.1 percent) shooting with five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block.
  • Classmate Cassie Davidson had eight points to go along with three rebounds and an assist.
  • Julia Blanck and Emmy Plage dropped seven points apiece. Blanck pulled in nine rebounds and matched a career high with five blocks. Plage had five boards and one block.
  • Sarah Chambers and Emilija Jakumaite each scored six points. Chambers added six rebounds and two assists. Jakumaite had one steal.
  • Maddie Hastings led all players with 10 rebounds. She also scored four points.
  • Skidmore outrebounded the host Red Dragons 48-28. No Oneonta player had more than five. Skidmore had six players with five or more boards.
  • Skidmore shot 46.4 percent (26-for-56) from the field fueled by a red-hot 10-of-16 mark in the third quarter.
  • The Thoroughbred defense held Oneonta to 10 or fewer points (8-10-7-7—32) in each period.
  • Skidmore has held opponents to 32 or fewer points just twice since February of 2018; both last season against Bard.
  • The Thoroughbreds feasted off a 38-16 edge in points in the paint and scored 21 points off the bench to 12 for Oneonta.
  • Skidmore scored on its first possession 54 seconds into the game and never trailed while it built its lead to 13, 31-18, before neither team scored over the final 3:49 of the first half.
  • The advantage ballooned up to 30 in the third quarter and got as high as 32 in the fourth period before finishing at 31.
NEXT UP: Skidmore goes to Hartford this weekend for the Trinity Tip-off Tournament. The Thoroughbreds will battle Connecticut College on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and will then face either host Trinity College or Albertus Magnus College on Saturday.
