#7/11 Bantams hand Thoroughbreds first loss, 51-38

HARTFORD, Conn.—The Skidmore College women's basketball team lost 51-38 to Trinity College in the Trinity Tip-Off Tournament championship game. It was the first loss of the season for the 4-1 Thoroughbreds, while the Bantams are 3-0.
 
  • Julia Blanck scored 12 points and had nine rebounds, four blocks, two steals and an assist for Skidmore. Cassie Davidson added nine points and earned a spot on the All-Tournament team after totaling 24 points for the tournament. Emmy Plage contributed eight points and five rebounds.
  • Emma Wax led the Bantams with a game-high 17 points.
  • Skidmore struggled from the floor early, shooting 1-12, while falling behind 15-4 after the first quarter. Trinity moved the lead to 29-13 at the half.
  • The Thoroughbreds found their range in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to nine, 35-26. Skidmore closed the stanza with six straight points, behind a Becca Horger field goal, a Blanck free throw and a sharp three by Amelia Medolla. The team's defense held Trinity to 2-14 (14.29%) from the floor in the quarter.
  • The Bantams held the Thoroughbreds off in the fourth quarter, keeping the lead in double digits before ending with the 51-38 win.
  • Skidmore will take a 10-day break before traveling to Williams College on Nov. 28 for a 5 p.m. game.
