Thoroughbreds hold off RPI for 2-1 win

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's soccer team got back in the win column with a 2-1 Liberty League win over Rensselaer Saturday at Wachenheim Field. The Thoroughbreds are 2-7-2 overall and 1-3 in Liberty League play, while the Engineers drop to 4-5-2 and 1-3.

** Colin Goodhines gave Skidmore the early advantage with his third goal of the season off a cross from Brady Trenchard at 8:09. Goodhines then set-up Tobias Caitzone for a 2-0 lead at 34:24. Goodhines also has three goals.
** RPI cut the lead in half when Josh Gaudiano made a spin move in the box to connect for his fifth goal.
** Neither team found the net in the second half. Defender Perry Sofis-Scheft cleared a ball off the goal line in the 66th minute to deny RPI's Brady Van Epps a chance to tie it and Skidmore goalie Will Devall had two big second-half saves to preserve the win.
** RPI had a 16-10 shot and 8-5 save advantage.
** Devall finished with four saves for his first career win.
** Skidmore is 3-1-1 in the last five games against the Engineers. It was the team's first home win in the series at since 2006.
