Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Thoroughbreds and Saints scoreless

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's soccer team battled St. Lawrence University to a 0-0 Liberty League tie Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field. It was the fifth draw of the season for the Thoroughbreds who are 5-4-5 overall and 0-4-3 in league play. The Saints are 7-4-4 and 3-2-2.

** The cross bar foiled both teams or saved both teams, depending on perspective. SLU midfielder Mia Cence hit the cross bar on a restart from about 20 yards out in the 44th minute. The ball dropped straight down to several players, but Skidmore goalie Claire Wolgast ignored the chaos in front of her and stuffed a point blank shot by Lily Stone to keep it 0-0 at the half.
** Skidmore had its cross bar moment in the 86th minute when Molly Cunningham's shot hit the cross bar and came down on the goal line, where it was cleared away by the Saints.
** SLU had a slight 14-13 shot edge, while the Thoroughbreds had a 5-1 corner advantage.
** Wolgast finished with five saves for her first solo shutout of the season. Keely Snode had six saves for the Saints.
** The five ties equals the program record of five set in the 2008 season when the team went 13-4-5.
** Next up: The Thoroughbreds host Union College at 7 p.m. on Oct. 25.
