ONEONTA, N.Y.—The Skidmore College field hockey team posted a 3-2 non-league road win over SUNY Oneonta Wednesday evening. The win moves the Thoroughbreds to 5-6, while the Red Dragons are 5-7.

** Skidmore set the tone off the opening whistle when
CC Wetter scored from
Abby Ezickson just 20 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead.
Mia Angwin made it 2-0 at 11:53 from
Kayla Hassett.
** Oneonta got one back in the second quarter when Morgan Fleming cut it to 2-1 at 18:44.
** After a scoreless third quarter,
Beth Yorns made it 3-1 from Hassett at 49:27. The Red Dragons pulled to within one 3-2 on Molly Geyer's goal at 51:51.
** Oneonta had a chance to tie it when the Thoroughbreds were forced to play a player down for the last 1:56. Skidmore's defense didn't allow a shot over the final minutes to preserve the win.
** Skidmore held a 17-9 shot and 9-6 corner advantage.
Victoria Bodnar had five saves for the win.
** The Thoroughbreds have won 16 straight against Oneonta, dating back to 2005.

Brooke Golden were key defensively,
Kayla Hassett and
Mia Angwin were workhorses in the midfield and
Colby Paul was an offensive catalyst.  The team showed grit and mental toughness, as they worked through adversity."
